Andy Goodrich’s life is turned upside down when his wife enters a rehab program, leaving him alone with their young children. Goodrich leans on Grace, his daughter from his first marriage, and eventually grows into the father she never had. Writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer wrote the title role specifically for Michael Keaton. “I wrote it 100 percent with him in mind,” she said, “to the point where I would have buried it and myself in the backyard if he had said no.” The box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch constantly rotates 180° during the breakfast scene. Writer-director Hallie Meyers-Shyer has given us a film that is funny, at times emotional, and will have you smiling when the credits roll. It’s the perfect slice of real life. Michael Keaton is spectacular as Andy Goodrich. Mila Kunis is impressive as Grace. Keaton and Kunis display an adorable camaraderie in all their scenes together. Vivien Lyra Blair and Jacob Kopera are fantastic as Billie and Mose. The supporting cast is phenomenal. Goodrich is a must-see for anyone who loves dramedies and is a fan of Michael Keaton and Mila Kunis. See it on the big screen and give indie films a chance to shine at the box office for a change.
